The War of PTSD, and the Destruction it Brings to Our Minds In the daylight hours, many people seem to have everything going right for them in their lives. A beautiful home, loving spouse, two-point-five children, all neatly tied up with the white picket fence. However, behind closed doors, past the sunny smiles and the bright attitudes, the true secret lies. Many seemingly â€Å"perfect† people in this world suffer from varying mental disorders. These disorders can be due to circumstances from earlier points in someone’s life, such as the trauma of war, or abuse and neglect. These harrowing experiences often lead to one mental disorder in particular, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD. Many times, family members are cut out of a person’s life, due to association with an abusive person, or particularly hard p oint in the affected person’s life. This often leads to sadness, anger, and confusion on the family member’s part, as they often have no idea what happened, and the hurt of being left behind and ignored by a loved one is a painful realization. PTSD sufferers also experience the inability to trust fully. This causes even more strain on relationships, both family and friend. It does not matter to those with PTSD how long they have known someone, how much they love that person, or how much they know that the person will not betray them or bring any more pain into their life, there will always be the underlying doubt in the back of their mind, the little voice that whispers â€Å"this person is not to be trusted†. However, PTSD has a much farther outreach than just an emotional effect. The second effect of PTSD is on someone’s mental functionality. The mental functionality, or damaged functionality of a person is a severe consequence of PTSD. PTSD can lead to other mental disorders as well, mainly depression. Depression has
